Don't Be A Dick

Hey friends!

So this week something happened to my mum that really set off a lot of anger in me which is what inspired me to write this post.

It was about 7:30 on a Thursday night when my mum was walking from her work to a chemist through an outdoor car park to get some medicine for my brother. She was walking through this car park minding her own business when someone started throwing eggs at her. Because it was dark and there were quite a few cars around she didn't see who the person was or where the eggs were coming from.

As if society couldn't get any worse, any faith I once had is now completely diminished. I just don't understand who would do that to an innocent woman walking around and minding her own damn business. How does that warrant behaviour like that? I'll answer that for you, it doesn't.

I was previously already aware that there are truckloads of assholes in the world but to be brutally honest I was fine being blissfully unaware of their manoeuvres. As of recently it hasn't just been this incident that has bought the reality close to my attention. There have been a number of other occurrences of asshole-ish behaviour that I will neglect to elaborate on due to dire circumstances.

Now, unless you are the type of person who throws eggs at people, you probably understand why I hate people who act like 2 year-olds with such a passion. So, I'm not about to spend the next half an hour of my life explaining the reasons why I hate people of that variety. Instead, I'm going to give you some advice on how not to be a dick. Feel free to pass this on to your neighbourhood douche canoes.

  1. Don't start your sentence with the phrase "I'm not sexist but…" because chances are you probably are. Saying you're not sexist before saying something sexist doesn't make you un-sexist. The same rule applies with "I'm not racist but…" and "I'm not homophobic but…". Just don't bloody do it.

  1. Don't give people dirty looks. I don't care how much of a crappy day you might have had or how much you don't like a particular person. You don't know what's going on in their life and they probably don't want, nor need, the added burden of wondering why you looked at them a particular way. Besides, it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile kiddos.

  1. "She's pretty for a fat girl" is not a compliment. For one thing, this implies that a person can only be beautiful if they have a size 8 body and a pretty face. Secondly, this is the most backhanded comment that ever faced earth. Sure, I'll call her fat but it's okay because I also said she's pretty. No, sorry, it doesn't work like that. This same rule also applies with "he's attractive for a fat guy" etcetera, etcetera.

  1. Other people's misfortunes aren't funny. Don't be a brat and be grateful for what you have because there are people out there who don't have luxury of fresh, clean water.

  1. Don't be a hater. Instead of complaining about everything you don't like, perhaps start talking about those things that you do. You'll not only look like a more positive person, but you may find yourself starting to feel like one too.

  1. If someone doesn't have the same opinion as you, don't spend the next 3 hours pulling up a 21 page powerpoint slide telling them why their opinion is wrong. Opinions are a person's perceptions on a situation, they differ from person to person. Get over it.

  1. Don't snoop. If someone doesn't want to tell you something themselves, don't go out of your way to find out. Mind your own business and worry about your own life.

  1. Be respectful of those around you. Don't yell on the train or swear in front of children. If an elderly person gets on a full bus, offer them your seat. Courtesy goes a long way.

  1. Clean up your piss. If you get pee on the toilet seat or the floor, clean it up. It's not hard. No one likes to walk into a toilet and see little drops of pee on surfaces we have to either walk or sit on. You know you'd hate it if it happened to you.

  1. Don't cat call. Shouting out "hey slut" or some other derogatory comment at a person from your car window doesn't make you any friends. Whether your a guy or a girl, just don't do it.

And last but certainly not least, don't throw eggs at people! No one should have to tell you that.

So, those are my steps on how not to be a dick! Hopefully we've all learnt something today and the world will slowly, but surely, become a better place.

Peace and love to you all!

Billboard Fashion Review!

Hello to you my chums!

Today I bring to you my Billboard Awards Red Carpet fashion review where I tell you who I think killed it and who should've maybe fired their stylist this year. For those of you who don't know what the Billboard Awards are, 1. get out from under that rock and 2. it's pretty much just a music award show presented by Billboard.

So, without further adieu, heres my verdict on who was hot and who was not at this year's Billboard Awards.

Let's start with T-Swizz.

Source: http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.2225874!/img/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/gallery_1200/taylor-swift.jpg

I love this. I love it a lot. I'm getting a bit of a 70's, ABBA vibe from Taylor's pantsuit but in a cool, toned down kind of way. I like the way she's kept it simple with the jewellery and let the outfit be the statement. I'm a sucker for a statement, smokey eye paired with a nude lip so I love this makeup combined with the tousled hair. 10/10 for you TayTay.

Next up is Kylie Jenner!

Source: http://au.eonline.com/eol_images/Entire_Site/2015417/rs_634x1024-150517163144-634.Kylie-Jenner-Billboard-Music-Awards.jl.051715.jpg

I love Kylie, I think she's one of the hottest chickadees in the entertainment industry at the moment. However, I am not a fan of this outfit, I think she looks like a leather carseat. I can see what she was trying to achieve with this dress but I don't feel like leather was the best option. It just looks too stiff and doesn't compliment her chest area. I mean, if you got 'em, flaunt 'em. I do love her shoes and her smokey makeup with her classic big lips though.

Since we're talking about Kylie, up next is Kendall Jenner.

Source:http://image-cdn.zap2it.com/images/kendall-jenner-2015-billboard-music-awards-gi-2.jpg

I initially did not like this because I thought she was wearing pants and I didn't really get it. But after some close examination I realised she's wearing tights and thigh-high boots and all is good in the world again. I love the pulled back hair, I think it really compliments the rest of the outfit given that the jacket is so intricately detailed. I feel this outfit could have been improved if she ditched the tights but overall, I'm a fan of this.

Here we have One Direction!

Source: http://headlineplanet.com/home/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Latest-BBMA-One-Direction-21-e1431913817722-1500x821.jpg

Not gonna lie, I'm kind of digging them as a four-piece. Let's take it from left to right, shall we?
I don't like Liam's get up, I firstly am not a fan of the whole t-shirt-under-a-suit-jacket trend that he's tried to pull off here. The scarf makes him look like he thinks he's Hugh Hefner and his pants are too baggy. Sorry Liam, you tried.
Louis has also tried to pull off wearing a t-shirt with a suit jacket but it's not working for him, I'm sorry. He does look better than Liam though because his pants actually fit him. I'm a fan of his hair so props for that Louis.
Niall, Niall, Niall. Take off those damn sunglasses they're not necessary. Other than that, I rate it. It's simple yet stylish. Well done.
Harry freakin' Styles. This boy can do no wrong. I don't know about you but I can't think of any other guy who could wear a silk shirt and actually look smoking hot while doing it. I love that his hair looks so effortlessly perfect and that he's added some jewellery to spice the outfit up further. Love your work Haz.

Nick Jonas and Olivia Culpo

Source: http://i.perezhilton.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/ap625918423(1)__iphone_640.jpg

So. Much. Burgundy. Nick's suit itself is fine, it does look like its in need of a bit of ironing but other than that, it's fine. It definitely could have benefited from either a black or a white shirt just to break up the whole burgundy thing though.
Olivia, on the other hand, looks hot. Her playsuit is stunning and really compliments her body shape. Hair on point. Makeup on point. Life on point. She's 100% killing it.

It's Iggy Iggz!

Source: http://ww2.hdnux.com/photos/36/41/22/8000645/3/960x540.jpg

I honestly can't get over how hot Iggy Azalea looks. This outfit shows off her slim waist and big ass booty perfectly. I love her shoes and how they colour block with her two piece outfit and also kind of match her new pink ombre hair. Nice touch. Iggy's got my vote.

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen.

Source: http://s1.ibtimes.com/sites/www.ibtimes.com/files/styles/picture_this/public/2015/05/17/chrissy-john-legend.JPG?itok=eT_2bpwu

John Legend is looking suave af in his suit. I think the navy suit with a white shirt is a really classic look and the lilac pocket square is just the finishing touch. Looking good Mr. Legend. Chrissy, however, looks like what would happen if ABBA had a baby with a Grid Girl. I don't like it at all, I mean yeah it shows off all of her features (aka boobies), but I just think the pattern is what ruins it. Good try gf.

Charli XCX!

Source: http://static.idolator.com/uploads/2015/05/Charli-XCX-Billboard-Music-Awards-2015-black-dress-Fancy-red-carpet-830x1280.jpg

Charli looks so effortlessly elegant in this simple black dress and I love it. Her messy, beachy waves provides a contrast between the structured dress and her smokey eye makeup with the bold red lip really completes the whole look. I love how she's kept her jewellery simple and let the dress speak for itself. I'm definitely a fan of women who keep it simple and still rock it.

So there we have it! Those are my favourite hits and misses at this years Billboard Awards! Let me know in the comments who you think was the best and worst dressed as I would love to know your opinions.

My Current Beauty Favourites!

Hello to you my chums!
Today I bring to you my current beauty favourites! Makeup is something that I've been interested since I was about 11 years old but only really started testing out new products and trying out new looks in the last year and a half. So here is a collation of my current beauty favourites. Enjoy!

So my first favourite beauty product at the moment is the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer.

I bought this concealer not long ago to use to highlight my under eye area as well as conceal any dark circles that I might have. Unfortunately the colour that I was matched to is much too dark to highlight when I'm not fake tanning but is the perfect colour to spot conceal or highlight when I do have fake tan on. I love this product because it's so full coverage and it truly does conceal my dark under eye circles that I was so fortunately blessed with. Note sarcasm. It covers up blemishes like a dream, however I do find that it can slide off the areas of my face that are more oily, like my chin but it can be easily avoided by applying a good powder. If you live in Australia, like me, you can find this concealer in Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima stores and it retails for $36.

My next favourite is by MAC and it's their Velvet Teddy lipstick.
I had been trying to get my hands on this lipstick for the longest time, ever since I heard Brittney Lee Sauder's rave about it on YouTube. It's such a popular product and it seemed like almost everywhere I went it was all sold out, until I finally found a store that actually had it. This lip shade is the perfect Kylie Jenner nude. It gives you that kind of 90s vibe as it is a browney-beige nude with slightly peach undertones. I think it's perfect for pale to medium skin tones but could also work for darker skin tones as well. The formulation is matte but it's super creamy and not at all drying as well as being super opaque and pigmented. It's my perfect lip shade! This lipstick retails for $36 in Australia.

This next favourite goes perfectly with Velvet Teddy! It's the MAC Lip Pencil in the shade Boldy Bare.
I have been wearing this lip liner constantly as of recent, so much so that I've gone through two since March. This lipliner is a stunning nude shade that can be worn pretty much under any lip shade darker than itself or underneath lighter nudes to deepen the colour and add some dimension. This liner paired with Demeter by Napoleon or Velvet Teddy is my perfect lip combo and it can look amazing on all skin types. Because it is a lip pencil it can be quite drying so I tend to steer away from wearing it on it's own. I like to pair it with a clear gloss just to add some hydration to the lips to prevent them from looking all cracked and chapped.

My next favourite is for the eyes and it is the NARS Hardwired Eyeshadow in the shade Opal Coast.
null
This eyeshadow is a limited edition shade as a part of the 2014 Holiday Colour Collection and has been discontinued. However, you can still purchase what stock is left of this product off their website and from some Mecca stores as that's where I got mine from about a month ago. I bought this eyeshadow for my school formal as I wanted to wear a silver and black smokey eye to match my dress. I was in my local Mecca Maxima store swatching a bunch of silver eyeshadows and I was so impressed with the colour payoff that this shadow has. It's super shimmery and gorgeous, perfect for a dramatic look for a night out or lightly swiped across the lid, blended with a cool toned brown for a simple day look with a bit of sparkle. It is a pure satin white eyeshadow with silver reflects which is what gives it that silvery effect. If diamonds were crushed into an eyeshadow, it would be this one. It's heavenly. Because it's so shimmery it does have a lot of fall out, so I would recommend using something like a shadow shield to prevent getting glitter under your eyes or simply apply your eye makeup before doing your face, which is always good to do with any eye look. You can also take the pigmentation a step further by using a few sprays of something like a MAC Fix+ spray or the Smashbox Primer Water. This eyeshadow retails at $25 USD on the NARS website.

This next favourite is the Kat Von D Lock-it Tattoo Foundation.

I love this foundation because when it says it full coverage, it means it's full coverage. All you need is about a pump and your whole face looks flawless! It does have a matte formula so it's more suited for people will more oily to combination skin types or that don't like a dewy finish. I, personally love the matte finish as my skin can get quite oily in my T-zone and chin area throughout the day. It's a really long wearing foundation, even for people with super oily skin. It's so long wearing to the point where I have been out at a party and gone to bed not being bothered taking my makeup off and I've woken up the next day still sporting a full face of makeup. The collection also has a great colour range of colours and undertones. I'm in the shade light 45 which is great for those of you with light skin and a yellow undertone. I picked this product up in Sephora in Sydney in March, I am unsure of the Australian price as they don't have an Australian site, but it retails for $35 USD at the American Sephora.

My next favourite is the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Intense Black.
This liner is a m a z i n g. It's given the name 'Stay All Day' for a reason. I have worn this eyeliner to bed so many times after a night out and woken up with perfect winged liner in the morning on multiple occasions. The colour is also a really insanely pigmented black that has a satin finish. I normally like my eyeliner to be as matte as can be, but I love this liner so much, it's my favourite liner I've tried so far. It's a felt-tip end that's really fine which allows for a super precise application so it's great for winged liner looks or creating thin lines. It retails at Mecca stores for $26.

My next favourite is probably my favourite current favourite and it is the MAC Studio Fix Powder.

I normally tend to drift away from high end powders because I find that all powders do the same job. After hearing so many positive reviews about this powder I thought I would bite the bullet and purchase it since I was running low on my regular Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. After using this powder I noticed a difference in the way my makeup looked straight away. It gives it a really nice, velvety finish and helps to make your makeup stay on a lot longer. Since this is a powder foundation it offers quite a lot of coverage, but without looking cakey. I normally apply this product as a finishing powder over a foundation when I'm going out or just on its own with a bit of concealer for school and everyday wear. It's definitely a very pricey product at $49 but I believe it's worth it.

My next favourite is the Christian Dior Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara in Over Black.

My mum gave me this mascara as a sample that she got for free and the moment I used it I put away my Benefit They're Real Mascara and switched to this one. It gives the perfect amount of drama and is perfect for someone who loves long, thick lashes. It's got a great formula that doesn't smudge under your eyes every time you sweat or if it starts to rain. My only downfall is that the wand is quite big so often times it will touch my eyelids but its easy enough to fix with a cotton tip and a bit of eye makeup remover. It's also quite expensive as it is a Christian Dior product but the quality is so worth the $52.

My second last current favourite is the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Palette.

I picked this palette up from Sephora in Sydney and instantly fell in love with it. I love this because all of the shades are matte and can be used both wet and dry. What also sets this palette apart from the rest is that there is a 'Transforming Pearl' shade which transforms any matte shade in the palette into a shimmery shade. This is perfect for taking day looks to statement night looks. The range of shadows is great with mostly warm shades with a few cool tones as well and all of the shadows are super easy to blend. The pigmentation isn't the best but they're super build-able which is great for people starting out with makeup. Another bonus is that the shadows don't contain talc and are anti-aging as they only contain ingredients that are good for your eyelids. Again, I am unsure of the price in Australia but it retails for $42 USD on the American Sephora website.

My last, but certainly not the least favourite current favourite is the Cover FX Contour Kit.
All of the shades in the palette are super creamy and easy to blend which made learning to cream contour an absolute dream. The contour colours aren't too orange or ashy and the two highlight shades are perfect for highlighting the under eye area and the tops of the cheekbones with one shade with shimmers and one without. The palette also comes with a diagram to show you where each shade goes which is great for beginners. I love cream contouring with this palette and popping a light coverage foundation over the top when going on a night out to make my cheekbone game super strong. I then follow it up with powder, bronzer, powder contour, blush and highlight to bring the look to the next level. The collection of contour palettes also has a great colour range suiting different skin colours and undertones so there will definitely be one suited to you. This palette retails for $48 USD on the CoverFX website.

So there we have it, those were my 10 current beauty favourites! Let me know in the comments what your current beauty favourites are as I love to try new products.

I am by no means trying to brag about the makeup that is featured in this post. All of the makeup I have is bought with my own money or given as gifts for birthdays, Christmas etc. All opinions are my own as I would never endorse a product that I don't love or recommend to anyone.

Thursbae 07/08/15

Hello my chums!

Thursbae is a little series I came up with whereby each Thursday for as long as we both shall live, I will introduce you to this weeks ultimate bae. Y'all better chuck on your air conditioners, it's about to get hot in here.

So without further adieu, allow me to introduce you to this weeks Thursbae.

This, ladies (and gentleman), is Stephen James. You're sooo welcome babe.

I don't know about you guys but I am both okay and very not okay with his existence.

Here's a need-to-know about this weeks Thursbae.

Birthdate: December 4th, 1990
Nationality: British. Thank u holy spirit.
Occupation: Fashion Model
Known for: Tattooed model and professional footballer. Again, thank u holy spirit.

So, why is Stephen Thursbae? Here's 5 perfectly good reasons, honey.

1. Just friggen look at him. If anyone could pull off tattoos from head to toe, it's him. Hello Christmas *heart eyes*.

2. He models. Sometimes holding pugs. As if he couldn't get any better, this happened.

3. He's got this whole mysterious, bad boy look going on. It makes taking him home to your parents seem so wrong, but yet, so right.
4. He has a British accent. That alone is enough to make anyone weak at the knees.
5. He's the new face of the shoe company, Windsor Smith. That means myself and my fellow Australians get to see him on the telly all the time.

He's staring into my soul with those seductive eyes and I ain't even mad about it.

If you would like to see more of Stephen James, you can follow him on instagram at @whoiselijah. Following him was the best decision I ever made.

That's all for this week's Thursbae! Let me know in the comments your suggestions for next week's edition.

10 lil not so fun facts

Hello to you my chums and welcome to my little corner of the internet. It's quite cosy, isn't it?

I've decided to start writing a blog because I feel like my hilarity and general wittiness should be shared with not only my close group of friends, but with the rest of the world too. I also felt that there that there are probably better uses of my time than watching "The Best of Karl Stephanovic" videos on YouTube so holaaaaa, here we are.
P.S If you don't know who Karl Stephanovic is, what rock have you been hiding under? Educate yourself. Srs.

Anyway, I digress. Since this is my very first blog post and I haven't got much other to talk about other than myself, here's a little crash course, a need to know, if you will, about me (you don't really need to know any of this... Don't tell me how to live my life).

1. I love High School Musical, however I hate Martha. My reason behind this is that in the first movie we learn about how she loves to "pop and lock and jam and break" (and just to answer that dude's question, no, it's not even legal) and that's pretty much all we hear from Matha... And that's all we should have heard. BUT in the second move she suddenly becomes one of the main(ish) characters? Like she's on par with the Kelsey's and Zeke's of the world? Nuh uh honey, go back to your lil nerd table and stop dancing. If you ask me, skater dude would have made a much better secondary character.

2. I hate mornings but I love The Morning Show, particularly the delicious banter between Karl and Lisa. Hey now, hey now, this is what dreams are made of.

3. Impersonating Cher is one of my most prized talents. I do believe in life after love.

4. My pinky is really fricken strong. 4 phalanges bitchezzz.

5. I love cheese burgers with added chicken patties from McDonald's. Trust me, it's like the second coming of Christ is happening in my mouth. Make of that what you will.

6. I love reading books but hate the endings 90% of the time. I can't tell you how many times I've been seconds off writing an angry letter to the author of All the Bright Places. I cried. 4 dayzzz.

7. This one time I stole a Beanie Bear booklet from a store because I thought it was free when I was like 4 years old. I still fear something will come of this and now I'm publishing it online. Pls don't hate me Toys R Us.

8. Cheesecake is like my family. Soz mum n dad.

9. King Curtis and I are one. Bacon and chicken nuggets = 1, exercise and vegetables = 0.

10. Laughing at scream versions of pop songs is my favourite pastime, besides watching a collation of Karl Stephanovic's finest moments.

So there we have it, 10 crummy facts about me! Since I want to interact with you dewdz, let me know in the comments section which four people you would want to be stuck in an elevator with. Mine would be Bear Grylls, he would know what to do, Luke Hemmings from 5sos so he could sang to meh (and just so I could stare at him to pass the time), Harry Styles, I don't even need to justify this decision and lastly, Karl Stephanovic. I'm imagining the banter between us all now and it's making me feel some type of way girlfriend.
